Brooder to Coop Countdown

Brooder to Coop Countdown

With the oldest of cohort 2 being completely feathered and slightly over sized for the brooder, with temps are acceptable for a move out, we’re once again faced with the issue that not every is ready to move out.

Our littlest two, Willow and Dahlia, being 2 weeks behind the rest of the group aren’t quite big enough to attack the ramp to the roosting area or have enough feathers for cooler nights. Don’t get me wrong, they have spunk for days: joining the chickie mosh pits, zooming around stealing mealworms, and claiming the sunniest spots for themselves.

Outside adventures have become the norm as Central Indiana’s weather starts falling into historical norms, but the nights are still too cool, for the stinky, dust creating, chirp chirps. And for the record, it’s not just Chickie Momma that wants them outside- both cats are eagerly awaiting the return of the use of the window perch, complete with afternoon sun where they’ve been banned from for months.
