With Cohort 1 well on their ways into being adult chickens full of personality, Chickie Daddy and I have decided to expand the flock as early as 6 weeks from now, depending on breed availability.
Despite going through these decisions just over a year ago after I was handed my present Christmas morning, I find myself once again searching websites looking at egg stats and weather tolerances for various species of chickens. I have a spreadsheet tracking availability, cost, and appearances of both the birds and eggs to ensure we get our colorful flock. Dinner conversation with Chickie Grandparents discussed if “rare breed” chick was worth the extra upfront investment and then launched into showing various feather patterns.
So many decisions and we haven’t even started thinking about names for Chickies 7-12 yet!
We’re asking our followers to help in narrowing down our theme of Cohort 2. If you recall, Cohort 1 is composed of our STEM Ladies, all being named after women who were leaders their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. Easy pick for a bio major turned budgeter and chemist- right?
Well, what about Cohort 2’s theme- Heroines & Villains? Flowers? Activists? Chickie Uncles, lets stay away from food dishes again please. Tendie and Tandori are both off the table, as are PotPie and Nugget.
